The Sweet Taste of a Deal

I wasn't raised a bargain finder. Not that my Mom steered us away from a deal, but we just never frequented garage sales and there was no such thing as Craig's List. (Bummer for our parents; they really missed out!)

When I was pregnant with Noah, a lady at our church, Renee, mentioned finding baby stuff at garage sales. I wasn't too excited about the thought. I think it was the first-time parent "I gotta have new stuff" idea. But she told me about all her great finds at wonderful neighborhood garage sales and offered to take me shopping. So, I agreed....and I'm oh-so glad I did. That day Renee and I found a crib with matching changing table, a pack-n-play, and some super cute clothes. I was stoked! All of my finds were awesome, cheap, and made my husband super happy!

I was converted into a bargain shopper that day.

Now that I'm pregnant again I had a couple of baby items on my "gotta find a bargain" list. So I've been browsing the classified section of the Tacoma Tribune on Thursday and Friday mornings looking for garage sale listings. And last weekend was the Puyallup biggie. Several nice neighborhoods (one of which housed Noah's crib) were having their annual sales. I went out both Friday and Saturday! It was too fun and I came away with a few cool toys for Noah and a baby bassinet, which was number 1 on my list. The toys were $6 and the bassinet was a steal....$30!!

Now I mentioned the joy of Craig's List earlier of which I am a newcomer. I searched baby swings (number 2 on my list) for about a week and found one, no kidding, two miles from home! It was super cute, in great shape, and once again, $30!

My sweet friend Lyndsey allowed me to pile up (literally) her Honda Pilot with all my sweet finds. I love the sweet taste of a deal! My husband's proud of me, our bank account isn't empty, and I got some great stuff!

Now all I need is a bigger vehicle to accomodate my hobby; perhaps I can search mini-vans on Craig's List!
