Birmingham

Sunny skies...sweet tea...pretty neighborhoods...good food...worthy newspaper...I can only be in one place....Birmingham. Not sure I can put into words why I love it here, but oh how I do. I looked at Alan in the car as we were going to meet some friends for lunch and said, "Alan, my heart is here." "I know," he replied with a smile. But you know the crazy thing? That is the Lord's response to me too. I've told Jesus the same thing and I feel him smile at me and say, "I know and don't argue with me." Don't argue? Yes, I have a tendency to build a case in my mind and believe I can convince the Lord to compromise. But why would I want the Lord to compromise His best for me? I don't. I must remind myself of this constantly. He is good and so much bigger than me. May my heart rest in the fact that He does immeasurably more than all I can ask or imagine. Lord, still my restless heart....and help me to enjoy my last few days in Birmingham.
