I love Thanksgiving. I love that it falls right before Christmas, and in doing so, prepares my heart to celebrate the birth of my sweet Jesus. Here are a few things of which I am super thankful for this season.
1. My husband's job. He loves serving as an assistant Pastor at our church and I'm so thankful for the opportunity! I love watching the Lord mold him into the man He wants him to be.... a wise counselor, a student of the Word, and a faithful servant.
2. My baby girl, Caroline. We found out that she was on the way on Thanksgiving last year and I could never have imagined the perfect fit she would be for our family! She is so sweet, so smiley, and so easy-going. Noah loves her and walks up to her multiple times a day saying, "tiss" (kiss) and bending down to plant his lips on her face.
3. My church. Although I've been in church my whole life, I have never seen a church that loves more deeply and truly than South Hill Calvary Chapel. They love to serve, love to study the Word, and love to fellowship. And since I am 3000+ miles away from family, they have quickly stepped in to fill the role; I am so grateful!
4. My faithful friend, Jesus. A few years ago I was taking a walk with my Pastor's wife, Jenny, and we were talking about the life of a pastor's wife and how, at times, it can be lonely. I asked her how she deals with that and I will never forget what she said. "Melissa, Jesus is my best friend." And she meant it. I have made that my aim and I love Him more now than I ever have.
5. My football team, the Auburn Tigers. Alan and I love watching football together. And we love pulling for Auburn. I am so proud of their season and knowing that a good many of the players love Jesus makes it even more exciting! (Sidenote: Alan is always aware of our recruiting status and as of late, I've been checking up on it myself....can't wait to see the freshmen of 2010!) War Eagle!
So that's my top 5 for now. Happy season of Thanks!
