Seasons

I love that I live in a part of the country that experiences all 4 seasons. Living in Alabama was kind of comical when it came to fall or spring. The summer heat lasted so long that it burnt the leaves instead of them gracefully changing colors and falling to the ground. As for spring? Temperatures would begin heating up nicely and then WHAM! A cold front would bust in sounding off tornado sirens and commanding us to take shelter. Not so in Washington.

Leaves are beginning to change; even the tops of my shrubs are getting red. And it never fails that the cherry blossoms burst forth in March or April. It's pretty here....and quite predictable which I appreciate.

Last week I begin to think about the seasons and tried to order them from favorite to least. The results are in.

  1. Fall. That's right, coming in number one is the season full of pumpkin spice, Auburn football, pretty leaves, and light jacket weather.
  2. Spring. Could have guessed this one, right? Those darn cherry blossoms get me every time.
  3. Winter. Threw you a curve ball, did I? Overcast days aren't so bad. I love sweaters, big coats, and scarves.
  4. Summer. If I lived in Alabama, this would be different. But I decided that no air conditioning in your home when it's 90 outside makes for a horrible night of sleep. I don't like bugs either and the heat just makes them multiply.
Alan says this list is not accurate. He spouted off his opinion of my favorite seasons and while I listened carefully, I was not persuaded to change my list. (I will re-evaluate when January rolls around and I haven't seen a hint of the sun in 30+ days.)

What are your favorite seasons?

This is great!! I have to admit, I cannot speak to my favorite seasons yet, as I have never truly experienced a fall or a winter (or a real spring for that matter)! I am looking forward to it while also dreading it! I do love falls in Alabama, though! Auburn football, pretty trees, light jackets as you mentioned! So fun...

My favorite go like this:

Autumn, Winter, Spring then Summer.

I think Pittsburgh will work just fine for me. It seems like winter is the longest season here seeing as how its November and the high today was 28. I was hoping for a longer Autumn but oh well; second best will do.
